Something About CO2 Monitor

What is CO2 Monitor?
CO2 monitors/detectors monitor the amount of carbon dioxide in the air of a specific area. The gas itself is created by our lungs when we breathe. Measured in ppm, or parts per million, the carbon dioxide is read as an air contaminant, revealing how much is sticking around in one place. That helps determine air quality.

How CO2 Monitors work?
The infrared CO2 Monitor utilizes the absorption of characteristic infrared wavelengths by carbon dioxide gas in accordance with the Lambert-Beer law.
The basic principle is the infrared light source emits an infrared beam through the sampling gas chamber, and uses the carbon dioxide gas component to absorb infrared rays of a specific frequency. Compare with electrochemistry, catalytic combustion, solid electrolyte, semiconductor, photoacoustic method.
The advantages of NDIR detection method: good selectivity, less susceptible to poisoning and aging due to harmful gases, fast response, good stability, and high signal-to-noise ratio.

What’s safe CO2 Reading?
For indoor buildings, the CDC recommends a reading of no more than 800pm. "If the benchmark readings are above this level, reevaluate the ability to increase outdoor air delivery," the CDC said in a June 2021 statement.
